چکیده

A 27-year-old man who was known to have hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) underwent evaluation at our echocardiography laboratory for exertional dyspnea. Laboratory tests revealed leukocytosis (5.4  10/L) with marked eosinophilia (34.6%; normal range, 4%), in addition to an elevated level of tryptase (70 ng/mL; normal range, 13.5 ng/mL). Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography showed an echodense structure that obliterated the left ventricular apex, consistent with thrombus and thickening of the posterobasal wall (Figs. 1 and 2). Pulsed-wave and tissue Doppler echocardiography revealed a left ventricular restrictive filling pattern (Figs. 3 and 4).

Hypereosinophilic Cardiac Involvement Presenting With Left Ventricular Massive Thrombus and Cardioembolic Stroke: A Case Report

Introduction: It is well known that the tendency toward thrombosis is increased in cancer patients. The increase in cancer procoagulant and tissue factor levels, endothelial damage, and stasis due to compression are among the most accused causes of thrombosis in cancer patients. Hypereosinophilia is a rare condition that causes endothelial damage leading to thrombosis. <s...

Idiopathic Hypereosinophilic Syndrome

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is a multisystem disease with peripheral blood eosinophilia of at least 6 months duration, multiple organ system involvement, and no evidence for other known causes of eosinophilia. It is characteristically a disease of middle-aged men, often has a poor prognosis and is seldom found during childhood. Heart dicsease, characterized by endomyocardial fibrosis ...

Cardiac involvement in hypereosinophilic syndromes detected by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging

Background The Hypereosinophilic Syndromes (HES) are a heterogeneous group of rare diseases characterized by blood hypereosinophilia and eosinophil-related organ damage with the Churg-Strauss syndrome as the vasculitic form of disease. Cardiac involvement was reported in 20-50% in earlier series. Yet, with improved diagnostic methods, the frequency of cardiac involvement is expected to be even ...

Hypereosinophilic syndrome with pulmonary and cardiac involvement in a patient with asthma.

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is characterized by prolonged eosinophilia without an identifiable underlying cause and multiple-organ dysfunction, most frequently involving the heart, the central or peripheral nervous system and the lungs. We describe a case in which a patient with asthma who had idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome with pulmonary involvement presented with symptoms of ...

Cardiac Involvement in a Patient with Eosinophilia and Inversion of Chromosome 16(p13q22): A Case of Chronic Eosinophilic Leukemia or AML-M4EO?

Any chronic hypereosinophilic state, including eosinophilic leukemia, reactive eosinophilia and idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome may be complicated by the end-organ damaging effects of eosinophilic degranulation, especially cardiac involvement. Several cytogenetic abnormalities that have prognostic and even therapeutic implications, have been described in patients with different variants o...
